indulging indulgences

I don't know if you could tell from this blog and the many posts I write about eateries...BUT I often indulge in things I probably shouldn't. I don't know if you are like me, but when I eat something I know is bad for me- guilt immediately follows. Let's just say, I have been feeling guilty a lot lately! :)

So, as this fresh month and season begin I am dedicating myself to a little life change. Out with the old and in with the new healthy thoughts and activities. I am willing to admit that I will more than likely indulge every now and then, but I am going to be more conscious of how much physical activity I get each day and aware of what I am eating to supply my body with energy. I am ready to start believing in myself again. I am ready to make a change. I guess I am blogging about it because it has been all encompassing lately and I hope that you will help hold me accountable...

In the spirit of The Last Supper, Lauren and I went to Cane's and Quizno's for lunch this week.

Tomorrow is the day of change for me- mind and body- and I am so excited about it.

Thanks for your support!

run-on-sentence

Oh, hey there blog frogs, blog smogs, blog clogs....humm....there really isn't a cute name to call you that rhymns with blog.....anyway- it's late in the evening and I haven't done a blog post since Friday and i really missed it, but today was one of the busiest work days i have had in a long time because the conference I have been planning for over a year is this weekend and I knew that this week was going to be stressful, which made me anxious, which made me not sleep well...why is it that when i toss and turn all night i have nightmares or is it having nightmares that make me toss and turn....I usually dream about vampires or zombies and the feeling of that recent dream story lingers into the beginning of my day making it feel weird and off kilter and i have an inkling it is going to be like this all week. Ok, inhale/exhale.

Yes, that run on sentence pretty much defined my day. It was a steady run of events.  I did, however, discover the most beautiful blog that has great ideas for invitations and the like.

sweet dreams!

rainbow cake continued

{inspiration pic by nicole hill gerulat from A Little Sussy}
{We used 2 boxes of white cake mix separated into 4 bowls and added the neon food coloring.}
{Once you get the preferred neon color you like, try the batter (of course) and pour into 4 individual 8" cake trays. Then pop those puppy's in the oven for about 24-26 minutes.}
{While the cake is baking you can start on the cream cheese icing. We just chose a simple butter, cream cheese, vanilla, and powdered sugar blend. After the layers were done, we put them in the freezer for about 20 minutes, but it probably would have been better if it was even longer than that. What I DID NOT do was level off the cake layers with a sharp knife, so unfortunately the cake turned into the leaning Tower of Piza!! Did I mention that this was my first attempt at layering a cake!?}
{So we just went with this leaning tower cake and added sprinkles that matched the layers. I was so nervous about transporting this cake to work the next day. Needless to say, we made it and Diane love it.}
{Even though it may not have been perfect and even though it eventually toppled over ... there was only a little bit left by the end of the day! Operation Layer Cake COMPLETE!!!!}

Just Breathe

I guess it was about 2 or 3 years ago that I discovered this community of Yogis. {thanks Ryan} The instructor, Kate, has the most soothing voice. My friend Chessi and I went yesterday. This used to be an every Tuesday occurrence, but somehow the trend unfortunately trickled off....

I had somehow forgotten how wonderful it makes me feel and overlooked the ability to still the mind through meditation. After yesterday's practice I am here to say, "I am back baby." Although it is a trek to get out there, it is worth it! Yoga makes me stand up straighter and breathe deeper.
Ready?
Breathe in 1-2-3-4
and out ahhhhhhhhh
Now, that was easy!
Don't you feel better already!?

...say cheese!

This weekend we celebrated Diane and David's 25th birthday at their lovely home. In her perfectly adorable Diane way, chalk boards were fashioned to display the cheese labels. Cheese trays were dispersed through out the party rooms for guests to nibble on. Of course these cheeses were coupled with the appropriate wine, which undoubtedly kept Tison smiling all night :)

David made his famous homemade bread from scratch that complimented the brie perfectly. Although I had never tried pairing sun dried tomatoes or figs with cheese and crackers, I was pleasantly surprised at the delectable combination.

Ohhh, it was so Gouda!

Happy Birthday you two!

Lunches with Lauren & Lindsey

Yes, I just spoke about myself in 3rd person.... now then, Lauren and I like to indulge in a lunch outing every now and again to break up the monotony of things here at the ole J-O-B. You might have seen one of our outings here. I thought I'd post a few pictures of our adventures from the last little while.
