a bunch of hocus pocus...

I love Halloween, but as my fiance knows quite well, I don't do scary movies. I watched Zombieland and had nightmares for a straight week. me = tiny little baby. However, I do enjoy getting in the Halloween spirit through movies. I guess the words scary, spooky, and creepy are all relative terms. If I had my druthers, I would stay home on Halloween with my honey and some popcorn to watching these movies:
 TRAILERS:
1. Hocus Pocus
2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (movie not series)
6. Casper
9. Carrie
20. Do you remember The Legend of Sleepy Hollow narrated by Bing Crosby?

Some other ways I have been enjoying this spooky time of year includes a family trip to Betty Virginia Park for Pumpkin Shine on Line...
   and hosting a Halloween book club:
 Leslie took a stage makeup class at LSU. Didn't she do an excellent job!?
 Happy Halloween!

happy weekend!

I hope everyone has a lovely weekend! I have been trying to figure out what to wear to our engagement party this Saturday...think I should wear this?!
{This picture is from book club on Thursday night. We read Dracula by Bram Stoker.}

What will you be for Halloween this year?

things to remember from family dinner...

Mom: No one can calm a baby like you, Mom. You are stunning.
Leslie: You could have any hair color and still look like a super model. It really is amazing.
David: It never fails that you will make a funny face at the camera...
I am feeling a collage coming on!
Lauren: How can you put together a well balanced meal for 7 with 2 kids running around? The answer is- quite perfectly. Thanks for the chicken fettuccine, salad, rolls, and cake.
Dad: I'm impressed that you have taught your grandson to "dap."
Way to keep it real, Poppa Doc.
Hudson: I could eat you up. I love playing chase with you in the backyard as you scream at the top of your lungs. (I also love screaming at the top of mine.)
Andrew: You have lost your newborn "tan" and are starting to look more like your mom to me. That is a very good thing sonny boy. You mom says that you are in a fussy stage and don't really like to be awake. I wish I could take away any tummy pain you are having.
You're too cute to pout.
Tison: I had a really good time with you at the Marriage Prep weekend. Learning our love languages and personality types was not only informative, but fun. I am enjoying putting our lessons into practice already. I can't wait to be married to you.

Nottoway Plantation {Part 2}

Lauren & Justin's Wedding Day: October 13, 2012
{The day began in the bridal suite with hot rollers and makeup, laughter and Frank Sinatra.}
{I was helping the Sowell fam set up the flowers when beautiful Kelsey walked in carrying in the wedding cake she made herself! She did such an amazing job. One of the layers was funfetti! Let me also note that Lauren made the cake topper herself, too.}
Photo time!
{Lauren looked so stunning in her wedding dress. I love her hair pulled to one side with the little veil swept over one eye. Isn't her flower/ribbon perfection? All the bridesmaids and house party wore black- very Audrey Hepburn.}
{Wedding time :)}
You are now pronounced husband and wife. Yay marriage!
 {first dance}
{father-daughter dance}
I hope you are having a wonderful time on your honeymoon and I pray for a lifetime filled with love and happiness for you both. Love y'all.

Nottoway Plantation {Part 1}

When Ty and I eagerly arrived at Nottoway Plantation, we put our things in the Carriage House and headed out for a self guided walking tour around the property.
After some time spent relaxing in the lounge with pina coladas and Dixie beer {that beer is NOT good, mind you}, we got ready for Lauren and Justin's rehearsal dinner held around the pool on the plantation grounds.
 Following a bbq dinner, speeches, gifts, and a walk-through, we went to Lauren's cottage for a little lingerie shower, champagne toast, and Bridesmaids the movie. Melissa McCarthy is so hilarious she makes it worth the watch. The scene with her real life husband on the plane?! "you feel that steam heat? that`s from my undercarriage."- rolling.

A little game Jenny taught us during the opening of lingerie - wrap each present up in tissue paper and pack it for your honeymoon and have the groom select a gift each night. It's a fun surprise for both of you! I thought that was a neat idea.

 If you are married, what did you do on the night before your wedding?

shower her with gifts...

It is unreal how fast time flies. It feels like Lauren and I were just sitting at work wondering when our boyfriends were planning to propose... and now I find myself face to face with her wedding weekend! I am so excited about all the festivities this weekend has in store. Tison and I hit the road tomorrow toward Plaquemine, LA until we reach Nottoway Plantation. eeek! I can't wait.

watching those tigers play...

For those of you that are an LSU Tigers football fan, this hasn't been the most impressive season in history, but it certainly hasn't been the worst. I was lucky enough to be invited by Katie's lovely family to the LSU vs.Washington game at the beginning of the season. They are in the Stadium Club, which means endless plates of food and soda pop, plus clean restrooms with an attendant- big bonus at a football game in my book- OH, and we had great seats!
Katie and I both agreed that it doesn't matter how many times you have seen the LSU Tigers play, in the pregame show when the band hits "BAA-BAA-BAAA-BAH!!!" you get goose bumps every time.
It was truly an honor. Thanks for having me!
